Welcome New Family Medicine Residents

Amanda Ciechanowski, MD and Amelia Matthews, DO, join the Providence Hood River Family Medicine Residency Program and OCH class of 2027!

 

Amanda Ciechanowski, MD went to medical school at the Escuela Latinoamerica de Medicina (ELAM) in Havana, Cuba.

She went to grad school at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Spanish Literatures and Cultures and Molecular & Cellular Biology.

Amanda had the unique privilege of attending medical school in Havana, Cuba in an incredibly enriching environment, with experiences in public health, advocacy for marginalized communities and primary care.

She was honored by being her school’s Valedictorian and received the Scientific Merit Award. She is fluent in Spanish and those that interviewed her were impressed with her enthusiasm, communication leadership skills, and interest in integrative medicine.

Amelia Matthews, DO went to medical school at the NY Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State in Jansboro, Arkansas.

She completed her undergraduate degree at Georgia Institue Technology and majored in Biology.

Amelia is an impressive medical student that was honored by her classmates as a Gold Humanism recipient for her work in the community and in Central America.

Amelia is fluent in Spanish and has done multiple mission trips to Honduras over the years, which have kindled her desire to practice in a rural community and reach underserved populations. She is very committed to including obstetrics and even an OB fellowship in her future plans.
